Christmas Rock Candy

  • 3¾ Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Light Karo Syrup
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1-2 Teaspoons Flavoring: I used Root Beer
  • Food Coloring (optional)
  • ⅓ C. Powdered Sugar
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine sugar, syrup, water and color in saucepan, dissolving the sugar as much as possible.
  3. Bring to boil and reduce to medium, let simmer until the candy thermometer reads 302 degrees. (45 minutes)
  4. Remove from heat, add your flavor. The mixture will bubble and shoot up some steam, this is normal.
  5. Pour mixture onto prepared pan and cool completely. The time on cooling will depend on many things, it took over 1 hour for mine to fully cool.
  6. Break candy into pieces.
  7. Add your powdered sugar to a zip-loc bag, add the candy and shake to coat.
