Italian Christmas Cookies

  • 4½ Cups Flour
  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • 1½ Cups Sugar
  • 6 Eggs
  • 6 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • {Cookie Glaze}
  • 3 cups Confectioners’ Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Anise Extract
  • ¼ Cup Water
  • Christmas Sprinkles
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Slowly add flour to creamed mixture and mix until blended. Use a cookie scoop and place 2″ apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until cookies are set and bottoms are lightly browned.
  3. { For The Glaze}
  4. Mix all ingredients with an electric mixer, or by hand. Beat until smooth. Dip tops of cookies into frosting. Add colored sprinkles. Let dry completely on wire rack.
