It’s that time of year, well the end of it of course. For most it is filled with reflections of sorts. Many bloggers are posting “best Of” posts, which I am loving, especially baking/cooking blogs! Since my blog is a pretty new I won’t be posting a best of this year but I am sure there will be one at the end of the year.
This year was a different kind of year for me. We moved from the United States to Japan. Literally from January till we moved here at the very end of May, life was fixated on moving to & getting to Japan. The process was huge, life changing in so many ways. With the horrible Earthquake & Tsunami that happened in March, it was uncertain for a while if we’d even be moving here. I wanted to be here. I wanted to help.
Baking took a back seat for most of the year due to all the moving. When we arrived here we had nothing. All of our household goods were on a ship, sailing the seas, slowly getting to us. It arrived about 2 months after we moved into our home. I was itching to bake, for a long while. When we finally got settled in, baking went into full swing.
I’d had thoughts for several years of making a blog soley for baking, all things baking. To share and connect with other bakers. I did blog about baking on my everyday blog, still do from time to time but really wanted a seperate place for it since it is such a huge part of my life. I had the domain for several months and finally took the plunge, Christmas week.
It has been a good year, some very troubling things have happened but I’ve come out a better person, I like to believe so anyways. I reached one of my baking goals which was to start my baking blog! I want to thank everyone who has visited and will in the coming new year. I look forward to making friendships and connecting with more bakers! I really appreciate every comment and love responding back to you.
Some of my goals for 2012 are:
To try to bake several times a week. To join the new Baking With Julia group in February and bake along with others. I hope to create at least 6 of my own recipes. To comment more on others blogs. To live more in the moment. To try harder, more in depth recipes. To remember it is okay to have a baking failure now & then, it happens. To get or make a light-box to use when I take pictures of my baked goodies. Of course I plan on being a healthier me and living life here in Japan to the fullest!

Happy New Year To All!
