Welcome to another delicious edition of Tuesdays With Dorie: Baking With Julia!
I don’t know about you, but this was my first attempt ever to make popovers. The word popover sounds so simple, while they looks so very fancy! Looking at the ingredients and instructions I knew it would be easy to put together.
I will admit I was a little worried they would not rise or the batter would overflow into the oven. I do not own a special popover pan so I went with using your average muffin tin.
I threw all of my ingredients into a blender and in a few seconds it was ready to pour, very simple stuff. I used a 1/4 cup and filled every other cavity in the muffin tin. It seemed like it was too much batter but in the end it was perfect really.
When I took them out of the oven, they were beautiful! I was very happy with how they came out. They were a beautiful color and by touch you could tell they had a nice crispness to them.
I did have a little trouble releasing a few of them from my muffin tin, so next time I will butter them even more but aside from that there were no other issues. My husband had just come home from work when they finished, so we each ate one hot from the oven with a little butter. Delicious.
